Dear mr Siner, i recently rewatched Allo allo and it was such good fun. All the tongue in cheek and yet it's gentle humor. I have a little theory, for fun, that came to me:
Lt Gruber is actually a timelord / doctor who, with his little tank as a tardis. We never see the driver, yet it drives, and he talks to it. It often appears in small spaces, has plot armor, etc. And of course, Gruber who seems very compassionate, hates violence, keeps inviting people into his tank as a... companion? Always tries to save the day through charm or trickery and is ridiculously talented :) clearly has plot armor considering how many times he escaped danger and even ends up with Helga as a companion at the end :-)
I understood you even played in the series at some point?
Regardingless of my crazy idea, i thoroughly enjoyed the series, thank you! Greetings from the Netherlands.

I've been watching a lot of Allo Allo recently, it's been about 20 years or so since I last watched it.
I've been enjoying your Lieutenant Gruber character so much. I know it's just a TV character, but I think actors put a lot of who they are into their characters.
With due respect for your craft and colleagues, anyone can play a character to a degree of success.
But I think for someone to have played such a beloved character such as Gruber, it takes an element of bringing part of themselves to make a character as beautiful as you did. Basically, I think Gruber is so loved by myself and others exactly because we see you in Gruber.
But regardless of all that, your portrayal Gruber is beautiful. Gruber seems to be someone who accidentally arrived in a bizarre - and honestly awful situation - and yet, managedā¦

Dear Kumagaye Lin, Thank you so much for your very kind message. Of course there is a little of the actor in every character he plays, but (I hope) every character I play is very different. I often say - and it applies more than ever here - that I miss Gruber very much - he was a much nicer man than I am. Nevertheless thank you again for your kind words. Best, GS

It has been lovely recently watching allo allo repeats on TV bringing back memories of my childhood and laughing with my mum who I'm lucky to still have. Thank you and everyone for all you did . The comedy is as funny today as it was then .
